What’s it like being a Foreign Service Information Management Specialist?

Freddy Mendez, the Strategy Branch Chief, Mobile Remote Access Division, with the U.S. Department of State, talks about his experiences as a Foreign Service Information Management Specialist and the places he’s lived around the world. Freddy joined the Department of State in 2003 as a Foreign Service Information Management Specialist (IMS), and has served in six countries — Bolivia, Finland, Nicaragua, Switzerland, Australia, and Slovakia.

He talks about what a typical day for a Foreign Service IMS looks like and he gives advice to students who are thinking about applying for the Foreign Affairs Information Technology Fellowship.
